Former Indian player Virender Sehwag who was a nightmare for the bowlers had made several records across platforms. Irrespective of the formats, he knows only one thing that is to blast the bowlers. Out of all the records he made, the innings he played against West Indies in 2011 will be special not only for him for the Indian cricket fans as well.

He played destructive innings and made a double century in the ODI format against West Indies. His stunning knock of 219 runs includes 25 boundaries and seven maximums. The West Indies bowlers had no answers for his play on that day. The innings completed 10 years today.

The innings is indeed a special one as Virender Sehwag became the second one to reach a double century. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar was the first player to score a double century in the 50-over format.

Making the innings even a special one, Virender Sehwag had led the team as a skipper making him the first captain to make a double century in the format. India closed its innings with 418/5 and won the match with a big margin of 153 runs.

Sachin Tendulkar scored 200 not out against South Africa in 2008 making it the highest score for a player in the format. Three years later, Virender Sehwag broke the record with 219 runs. Cut to three years he record was broken by Hitman Rohit Sharma in 2914 with 264 runs, which remains the highest individual to date.
