Volvo targets all-electric Indian market with Volvo XC40 Recharge

Swedish multinational manufacturing company Volvo headquartered in Gothenburg announced the launch of all-electric SUV Volvo XC40 Recharge in India. The bookings will be started in June and the deliveries of vehicles will commence from October 2021.

With entering the electric cars arena, Volvo India is aiming to achieve 80 percent sales from India in the next four years. By 2025, Volvo India is aiming to achieve its target.

The SUV is powered by a 78kWh lithium-ion battery. The all-electric car powers two 204hp electric motors to stimulate permanent all-wheel drive. XC40 can reach 100kph to 0 from 4.9 seconds. It can reach the top speed of 180kph.

On a single charge, the all-electric vehicle has a 418km WLTP range. The vehicle's battery can be charged on an AC charger or a DC fast-charger.

However, the price of the all-electric vehicle is not announced yet. The electric version is expected to be slightly higher than the petrol version of XC40 T4, which is priced at Rs 39.90 lakh ex-showroom price.
