The bill to repeal the three capitals bill was introduced in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly earlier today by the state finance minister. On the occasion, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy addressed the house and gave his opinion on the decision that made him opt for the same.

Jagan said that the bill was withdrawn to present a new one that is going to be comprehensive that protect the interests of the state in a better way. We are not going back on the three capitals issue.

He maintained that the voters in Andhra Pradesh gave their mandate in the 2019 general elections. The public gave their opinion on this and hence we don't want to go back on the issue. We will bring a new bill and introduce it before the Assembly, he said.

Rubbishing the opinion that he is against the Amaravati region, Jagan clarified that he wants to have three capitals so that the development gets decentralised rather than having a single capital. He said, learning from Hyderabad, he wants to develop three regions for the decentralisation of development.

He went on to say that his house is in Amaravati and the reason behind opting for Visakhapatnam as the executive capital is that it has better facilities and suits better for a capital that develops the northern region of the state.
