October will be a unique month for the banking sector in the country. There are not one or two, but all of eight holidays in this month. The list of holidays starts from October 2, which is Gandhi Jayanthi. .October 6 is a Sunday and is a holiday for all the banks. Dasara, which falls on October 8, is also a holiday. October 12 again is a holiday as it is Sunday. Similarly, October 26 is again a Sunday and October 27 is Diwali and a holiday.
These holidays are common for all banks across the country. In addition, there would be extra holidays depending on the state. For instance, in West Bengal, the banks would remain closed from October 5 to October 8 because of the Durga Puja. In Tamil Nadu, October 7 is a holiday as it is Ayudhapuja festival.
