Water ATM’s in BJP state

When it comes to access to clean drinking water the statistics are stark. Every 21 seconds a child dies from a water-borne illness. Acute water shortage in most of the areas causing huge damages to human life.

With an aim of providing drinking water at an affordable price in main areas of the city, Government on earlier proposed to set up 500 water ATM’s in the national capital. Considering the same concept central government preparing its plans to setup water ATM’s for desert areas in Rajasthan. In Rajasthan people facing huge drinking water problems.According to sources the Water ATMs serve as 24/7 water vending machines. Customers to buy rechargeable ‘smartcards’ from the private operators and draw up to 20 litres of water per transaction at a price of 15 paise or 30 paise per litre, depending on the location of the Water ATM.

In a statement to media Arun Jaitley says “About 500 ATMs supported with ground water/tanker services will be set up in 2014-15,".
