Weddings & Education led to Farmers Suicides: TRS Govt.

TRS Government brought to the notice of Hyderabad High Court that expenses incurred due to lavish weddings and education of children in private schools were the major reasons for farmers suicide in Telangana.
Vyavasaya Jana Chaitanya Samiti moved High Court seeking directions to Telangana Government over the preventive measures need to be taken for preventing farmers suicides. In its counter-affidavit, State Government listed lavish weddings, education in private schools, consecutive failure of crops for 2 years & digging of bore wells, health & family issues and loans taken for expenses towards employment in Gulf Countries as the reasons behind the suicides.
TRS Government informed High Court that Vyavasaya Jana Chaitanya Samiti's version of 1,347 farmers suicides in the state in the past one year as baseless. It adds, Only 782 suicides happened between June 2nd last year to October 10th this year and just 342 out of them were genuine. The verification of suicides was done by a 3-Member Committee in the District Level.
