Clash Between Two States For RASGULLA

It might appear very strange but Two Indian States have been crossing swords over the origin of a Sweet. Yes, West Bengal and Odisha claim the sweet Rasgulla or Roshogolla belongs originally to their respective states.
West Bengal Government approached Centre's Geographical Indicator (GI) to establish the origin of Rasgulla as its own. Claiming that the sweet was first made in Bengal, State's Women and Child Welfare Minister Shashi Panja states a renowned Sweet-Maker in Odisha with name Bikalananda Kar claims his shop established in 1956 was the first to put Rasgulla for sale in the state. She also adds, 'Bikalananda Kar himself told Rasgulla was invented much before he began making it'.
As per Bengalis, Rasgulla was invented by entrepreneur Nobin Chandra Das in Kolkata in the year 1868.
However, Odisha claims the origin of Rasgulla was found in Hindu mythology and attributes it to Lord Jagannath (Lord Vishnu). They say, Rasgulla is being offered as Prasadam to the pilgrims who visited Puri Jagannath Swamy temple in the 12th Century.
