West Bengal Gives Official Language Status To Telugu

The much-awaited 2021 Bihar Assembly elections are just months away. All the parties, including the ruling All India Trinamool Congress party, have taken the elections prestigiously and working hard to woo the voters.
All India Trinamool Congress party chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took a step ahead cleared a long time demand of the Telugu people living in the state.
The West Bengal Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has cleared the proposal to give Official Language Status to Telugu in the state.
Kharagpur, which is often referred to as "Mini Andhra" enjoys a fair share of the Telugu population who were migrated from Andhra Pradesh. For a long time, they have been demanding the government to consider Telugu as the official language.
Other than Telugu, Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Gurumukhi, and Odia were given the status of official language in West Bengal so far.
The move from Mamata Banerjee aka Didi came days after some of the TMC leaders have shifted their loyalties to the saffron party BJP in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
