The ruling party in Telangana, Telangana Rashtra Samithi has now changed into Bharat Rashtra Samithi officially. The Election Commission has given its nod to this and sent a letter saying the same. Chief Minister KCR signed the letter and this makes the change in the party name official.

On the occasion, the ruling party held a meeting today, and the Telangana Bhavan hosted the event. A few key leaders from the party were present on the occasion. The new party flag was unveiled today and the party has become a national party today.

The party flag also went through a few changes. Earlier there used to be the Telangana state map with the letters TRS written on it. But the new flag had the Indian flag with BRS letters. The party announced the new flag amid cheers from the crowd.

Besides a few legislators from the party, the likes of former Karnataka Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy, actor Prakash Raj, and a few farmer leaders were present at the occasion.

Its been more than two decades since the TRS was formed. Raising the demand for a separate Telangana the party was formed by KCR. The party manage to win a few MLA seats initially and survived in a combined state. But the movement became aggressive and intense after the 2010s.

KCR sitting on a hunger strike for the demand is a big development in the movement. People also took part in the movement making it a big success. Seeing growing support and the movement becoming intense the then-union government led by the Congress party decided to divide the state.

After the state was formed TRS went to the polls in 2014 and people gave their support to the party and the TRS managed to win a two-thirds majority in the Assembly house in the 29th state of India.

After winning two consecutive terms, TRS wants to enter national politics and leave its mark in national politics. For this, the party changed the party name to BRS so that it can contest in any state. The Election Commission gave its nod to the change in the party's name.
