What Did Damodara Do When Wife Joined BJP?

Remember the political flip-flop of Padmini Reddy, wife of former deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarsimha? She joined the BJP in the morning without even informing her husband and by evening, she was back to the Congress Party, giving blushes to the BJP.
Many people felt it was Damodara Rajanarsimha, who planned her joining of the BJP. But, Congressmen close to Damodara say the former deputy CM too was equally stunned by his wife's joining of the BJP. "But, he did not say anything to her, when he met her. He was silent and teary eyed," recalls the party worker. Rajanarsimha had told the party workers that if he has to make a choice between keeping the family united or a political career, he would rather want to keep the family alive. Rajanarsimha was even ready to quit politics and not contest from Andhole.
"Through all these, he did not say a thing and did not even ask wife Padmini why she did what she did. He only kept quiet. It was very stoic of him. He behaved like a true hero," the Congress leader, who did not want to reveal his identity.
However, sources said Damodara Rajanarsimha too wanted to leave the Congress and join the BJP, but at the right time. Had Damodara joined the BJP, it would have been a shot in the arm for the BJP. However, Padmini’s hasty move has hit him badly. Now, he can neither go to the BJP, nor command the same respect that he used to command earlier in the Congress.
