What is happening to Congress in Telangana?
X
The Congress in Telangana is clearly worried. It is worried that it is shrinking. Its base is shrinking and more worrisomely, it has ceded a lot of ground to the BJP especially in the North Telangana. In the municipalities under 30 assembly constituencies, the party's performance is not even worth mentioning. In the final analysis, the party could give a credible fight only about 60 municipalities, which is just about 50 per cent. What is more worrisome is that it has fared worse than the BJP, MIM and the CPI in several places.

Congress leaders now realise that its base in north Telangana is slipping. The BJP is getting strengthened in the areas under the parliamentary seats of Adilabad, Nizamabad and Karimnagar..The party fared poorly in places like Adilabad, Kagaznagar, Sircilla, Vemulawada, Nirmal, Korutla, Bhainsa, Raikal, Manthani, Chennur, Kyatanpalli, Bhimgal, Bhupalpalli, Dornakal, Maripeda, Torrur, Narsapur, Naspur, Armur, Metpalli, Huzurabad, Dubbak, Amangal, Jalpalli, Tukkuguda, Yellandu, Kothagudem, Madhira, Shadnagar, Shamshabad, Shankarpalli, Bhutpur, Mahabubnaga, Alampur, Amarachinta, Kollapur, Makthal, Narayanpet, Medak, Banswada, Yella Reddy, Tupran, Gajwel, Pocharam, Thumkunta and Dammaiguda municipalities. The party has also slipped badly in places where its MLAs have defected to the TRS.

It is being reported that PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy is now preparing a detailed report on the performance of the party in the recent municipal elections. The Congress wants to make a comeback by 2023 when the next assembly elections are held.
