What the BJP Can Learn From Kanna Lakshmi Narayana's Exit?
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Feb 2023 9:10 PM ISTThe Bharatiya Janata Party used to have representation in the combined Andhra Pradesh. Though the party never had MLAs in big numbers it used to have a representation. But the status quo changed after the state bifurcation. Though the saffron party saw a big jump in its position in Telangana with MPs and MLAs in the state, the same is not the case with Andhra Pradesh.
The party has been trying very hard to have a good representation since 2014 but nothing is working. It even allied with Janasena floated by Pawan Kalyan. Despite no big benefit, the two parties are still in the alliance.
The Andhra Pradesh wing of the party faced a big blow with former chief Kanna Lakshmi Narayana leaving the party. Putting an end to the long suspense, he announced that he is quitting the party. He also gave reasons why he choose to leave the party though he admires Narendra Modi.
Former Minister Kanna Lakshmi Narayana blamed the current chief of the party for the state. Targeting Somu Veerraju, Kanna said that he didn't like the way he is behaving and he is not cooperating with other leaders. Saying that he worked hard for the party and that is the reason he was made the party chief, Kanna Lakshmi Narayana said he resigned as he didn't like Somu's behaviour.
This speaks volumes about the internal issues between the leaders. Kanna is a senior leader and he has been in politics for a very long time. Losing him will be surely a big blow for the party and the BJP is yet to open its account in the state. His presence will boost the party. Unfortunately, the BJP failed to retain him.
Kanna Lakshmi Narayana's episode is a wake-up call for the BJP and the party leadership should focus on addressing the issues. If the internal issues are not addressed then the party cannot have its stand in the polls.
On the other hand, media reports say that Kanna might join the TDP as the grand old party is not leaving any stone unturned to gather forces to win the polls. Though it is not announced reports say the same. The media reports also raise doubts about the possible TDP-BJP alliance. Many ask why Kanna would try to join the TDP if BJP and TDP might join hands.
