Bird Flu Scare: What WHO Has To Say About Poultry Feed Consumption?

The fears surrounding meat consumption have hit the poultry industry with meat sales in several states coming down rapidly. Most of the Northern states faced the wrath of it.
Thousands of birds died in the bird flu affected states. Over the past 10 days, Haryana reported more than four lakh deaths in the poultry birds which is quite scary.
Amid these fears, the World Health Organisation and UN Food and Agriculture Organisation said that chicken and poultry consumption is safe if they are cooked properly.
According to the experts, Bird Flu cannot sustain high temperature and they advised people to cook the meat at 70 degrees, which makes the flu weak.
However, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) suggested that food hygiene should be followed while cooking poultry food like chicken and eggs like washing hands after touching the food.
So far Bird flu was reported from Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
