She had indicated that she would not be contesting this time due to health reasons. Even during the heat of the election campaign, Sushma Swaraj was not seen anywhere. The latest news from her is that she has just applied for an 'ex-MP' card. This card will give her unhindered access to Parliament, its vast library and other facilities. It will also give her a free pass to travel across India. This means, she has settled for a retired life. There was a talk that she might be made the Governor of Maharashtra once the incumbent Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao's stint ends. Maharashtra is very important for the BJP and having someone like Sushma Swaraj would help the party in ways more than one.
