WhatsApp Lands In Trouble For Middle-Finger

A Delhi-based Advocate sent legal notice to WhatsApp over the presence of 'Middle Finger' emoji on its platform.
Gurmeet Singh: 'Showing Middle Finger is an obscene and lewd gesture as per Sections 354 and 509 of Indian Penal Code. Offering the Middle Finger emoji is like provoking WhatsApp users to use such offensive and lewd gesture'.
The Advocate threatened to file civil/criminal cases against WhatsApp if the emoji wasn't removed within 15 days from the date notice was served. WhatsApp hasn't responded to the notice so far.
Emoji is a digital image or icon usually preferred to express an emotion. Promoting indecent gestures on social media can't be tolerated as they will have a big impact on the human relations. May be, This issue will prompt Social Networking Sites to be very careful while introducing any new future.
