The White House unfollowing the Twitter accounts of Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister's office, the Indian Embassy in the US, the US Embassy in India and the US Ambassador to India, Ken Juster has created a quite stir in India as the opposition Congress party found fault with this.

Following the controversy, the White House clarified this and explained what happened with the unwanted controversy. A key official of the administration working at the White House spoke about the following and unfollowing saga of the house.

"The White House Twitter account normally follows senior US government Twitter accounts, and others as appropriate. For example, during the time of a presidential visit, the account typically follows for a short time, the host country's officials to retweet their messages in support of the visit," the official said.

In a statement, the White House said that the White House will follow the Twitter handles of the chiefs of the nations in which the US President Donald Trump will be touring and the house will unfollow these accounts and termed this as a normal process.

Congress leader, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter after getting to know that White House unfollowed the accounts of President and Prime Minister."I'm dismayed by the "unfollowing" of our President & PM by the White House. I urge the Ministry of External Affairs to take note," Rahul Gandhi’s tweet read.

The White House only follows the Twitter accounts of President Donald Trump and his official Twitter handle, the First Lady, the Vice President, the Second Lady, the new Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, the National Security Council, and the former White House Press Secretary, Stephanie Grisham. The official Twitter handle of the White House has 22 million followers.
