Why America Changed its Stand on India's Oil Imports from Russia?

The United States and NATO had failed in dealing with Russia. The multiple efforts made by the superpower nation to stop Russia from invading Ukraine did not go as planned and even the resolution against Russia at the United Nations General Assembly did not take any chance.
Instead of working on that, the United States had termed India's nature as somewhat shaky. Forgetting the help India had done to other nations during the Covid outbreak, the United States made these objectionable comments.
Not just that, the United States is constantly trying to dictate terms to India on the oil imports from Russia. The US officials are on a spree of telling India what to do and what not to do. Recently, the US officials had urged India to cut down its imports from Russia as continuing the imports will not be of good interest to India.
Now the United States has changed its take on the issue and said that India is not violating any sanctions by importing oil from Russia. The chance came after the United States President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met virtually.
India is one of the biggest oil importers and if the United States tries to dictate terms further, India can shift its purchases completely to Russia or Middle East countries. This will leave a heavy toll on the US. Realizing this, the US might have changed its stand.
