Huzurabad bypoll is turning out to be a huge headache for the intelligence officials. They are being asked to file daily situation reports and mood survey details to the government. They are being directed to tour widely and extensively in the villages in Huzurabad constituency. Not just that. The intel authorities are asking the personnel to furnish proof of their travel.
The TRS, which is dependent on the intel inputs for preparing its strategy against Eatala Rajender, who the TRS considers as a formidable rival. It is trying to get information at the micro level. The info includes the political behavior of the local leaders, caste groups, women voters, women SHG leaders and youth associations. It also wants to know about the way the government employees are thinking. To understand, the intel personnel have been asked to fan out into the interiors. However, the reports that the government is getting are both conflicting and contradictory.
Some days, the report is favouring the TRS and other days the BJP candidate. Several reports say that if the elections are held today, Eatala Rajender will win hands down. However, the reports from the party functionaries are giving better chances to the ruling TRS. The authorities suspect that intel personnel are not actually visiting the villages and that they are filing reports sitting in the headquarters. Hence the intel top bosses have asked the personnel to travel only in buses and attach the bus tickets as proof of their travel. Unless the tickets are attached, the reports are not being accepted. As a result, even hard-working and sincere personnel are put to great difficulty. A bus trip is tiresome and takes more time than a bike trip. Yet the personnel are forced to go by bus travel. The gathering of intel info too has become all that difficult.
An intel person currently working in Huzurabad area said that the personnel can still dupe the officials If they want. They can collect bus tickets from the passengers and produce them as their own, he said. The government should trust the staff, he said and added that if the top officials try to put the employees to unnecessary trouble, the staff would devise ever newer ways to dupe the officials, he added.
