No…It's not a case of complete disenchantment with the political system. It has got to do with the Covid 19 scare. Many senior citizens are afraid of contacting the virus and getting infected if they go to the polling booths. Even the efforts to make them go for postal ballots are proving futile. Most senior citizens are not interested in filling a slew of forms to exercise their right to vote through postal ballots. In some cases, the senior citizens are even refusing to talk to the officials and the representatives of various political parties.
In many cases, the politicians and the poll staff are meeting the senior citizens without the Covid 19 protective gear. This is putting them off. They are even refusing to meet such staff or political workers fearing that they could contact the virus if they speak to them.
