Why BJP and Congress are Playing with Savarkar Row?
By: Tupaki Desk | 23 Aug 2022 1:20 PM GMTIs Vinayak Damodar Savarkar a brave heart or a coward? is the question that has been going on for a long time. The right-wing paints Savarkar as a true patriot who faced a jail term in one of the toughest prisons. However, the other wing opposes it and alleges that Savarkar sent many mercy petitions.
The Savarkar row hit the Southern state of Karnataka after posters of him were erected in the state. However, the grand old Congress removed the posters saying that they cannot celebrate a coward.
The saffron party Bharatiya Janata Party hit back and launched Savarkar Rath Yatra. Former Chief Minister of Karnataka B S Yediyurappa inaugurated the yatra which will be carried out till the month end covering various districts in the state. People are talking about the yatra now.
Amid the ongoing controversy, senior Congress leader H. D. Kumaraswamy, who earlier served as the Chief Minister, reacted to this. He asked why both parties are making a ruckus out of the controversy.
The former Chief Minister lashed out at the BJP and Congress on the issue. He alleged that BJP is trying to create a tense situation with Savarkar's name while the Congress party is trying to add fuel without stopping the issue. I wonder where the issue will lead, he maintained.
