Why BJP is smiling despite Munugode loss?
By: Tupaki Desk | 7 Nov 2022 4:21 AM GMTWhile the BJP may be mourning the defeat in Munugode, it has other reasons to cheer on Sunday, when the bypoll results of the seven assembly seats were announced. The BJP has managed to post massive wins in four of the six seats it has contested and came a close runner-up in two other seats. The seventh seat was given to the Eknath Shinde group, which lost to the Uddhav Thackeray group.
The BJP won Gola Gokarannath UP, Gopalganj in Bihar, Adampur in Haryana and Dharmanagar in Odisha with handsome margins. In fact, it had won by over 30000 votes in Gola Gokarannath. It has also defeated the Biju Janata Dal by over 9000 votes in Odisha. In Adampur too, the BJP registered an impressive victory.
The BJP came second fighting alone in both Munugode in Telangana and Makama in Bihar. In both places it was a close second. What gave more happiness to the BJP was the fact that the Congress could come second in only one of the seven seats and the candidate it supported won in another seat. The AAP lost its security deposits in all the seats it contested.
Interestingly Hisar, under which Adampur comes, is the home town of AAP founder-president and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The party failed to retain its deposit in this constituency too. An elated IT head of the BJP, Amit Malviya
Said "BJP continues to win big in by-polls. BJP's Smt Kusum Devi wins Gopalganj in Bihar against Nitish Kumar-Lalu Prasad 'Mahagathbandhan'. Shri Aman Giri wins Gol Gorakhnath in UP. Shri Bhavya Bishnoi wins Adampur in Haryana. AAP loses deposit. Congress is on Yatra...(sic)."
