Why BJP leaders footfalls have suddenly increased in Telugu states?

After years of neglect of the Telugu states, the ruling BJP, it appears, has suddenly begun focusing on them. The BJP has held its national executive in Telangana and organised a well-attended public meeting. A day after, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil a 30-feet statue of legendary freedom fighter Alluri Seetha Rama Raju in the Raju stronghold of Bhimavaram.

The BJP leaders are making a beeline to the Telugu states. Both Amit Shah and JP Nadda visited Telangana and addressed massive public meetings as part of the Bandi Sanjay's pada yatra. As part of the national executive, the top BJP leaders from across the country visited every assembly constituency in Telangana. The optics and the buzz these visits created have definitely helped the BJP.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath's recent visit to Bhagyalakshmi temple near Charminar too is an important step. In Andhra Pradesh too, the BJP footfalls have increased. In recent times, key leaders visited Vizag, Tirupati and other main cities in the state. The PM's visit on Monday to Bhimavaram too is likely to create a buzz for the party.

Interestingly, unlike the events in Telangana, the Alluri statue unveiling is a government programme. The state government of the YSRCP is leaving no stone unturned to make this a memorable event. But, the BJP too is making efforts to gain some traction for the party in Andhra Pradesh. Interestingly, neither YSRCP nor the TDP are even planning to question the BJP or PM Modi about special status to Andhra Pradesh.
