Why Film Industry Did Not Back TDP In Telangana Polls?

One unique feature of the TDP campaign this time in Telangana is that there is literally no filmi glamour. No film actor has campaigned for the TDP. Despite film personalities like Bhavya Anandaprasad and NTR's sister Chundru Suhasini contesting the elections, no film personality has campaigned for the TDP.
Normally, the Telugu film industry, which is dominated by one community from few coastal districts, has always been associated with the TDP. They have actively campaigned for the party and have even prepared publicity material for the TDP. This time also, it is being said that Chandrababu Naidu had tried very hard to rope in film personalities and had even conducted several secret meetings. Though some film personalities attended those meetings, they were not committal about joining the TDP campaign. Even NTR and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, whose sister was contesting from Kukatpalli on TDP ticket, had only issued a letter appealing people to vote for her and did not join the campaign.
The reason for the film industry ignoring Chandrababu Naidu is not hard to understand. The film industry is firmed entrenched in Hyderabad and there is no scope for them to shift to AP in at least coming three decades. That being the case, why should they risk annoying TRS, which is known for being vindictive if it chooses to. They also did not want to give an impression that the community they belong to should not be seen as anti TRS. As a result, the usual film glamour for the TDP went missing this time around.
