Why Has DK Aruna Become So Active?

Why has former Minister DK Aruna become suddenly so active? Why has she been making high profile moves of late? DK Aruna joined the BJP just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and contested for Mahabubnagar MP seat. Despite putting up a spirited fight, she lost narrowly. After the elections however, she preferred to maintain a low profile. She did not attend many party programmes and there was even a buzz that she could even leave the BJP and go back to the Congress.
However, of late, she has become suddenly active. She has taken up the Disha issue very seriously and organised protests in a big way. She then organised a round table on the issue. Later she understook a two day deeksha protesting against the rampant sale of liquor in the state. The deeksha was a huge success as all the key leaders of the BJP, including general secretary Muralidhar Rao, state president Dr K Laxman and the sole party MLA Raja Singh, attended the deeksha to express solidarity with her. DK Aruna herself called up all these leaders and sought their support for the deeksha.
Highly placed sources say that she has suddenly become active as she is being seen as the next party president, sources say that she has been sounded out by the party’s national leadership that she would be made the next president of the party. Present president Dr Laxman’s term is coming to an end and the party is looking for a suitable successor for him. They feel DK Aruna could be the best person to lead the party. Hence, this sudden activism, say political watchers.
