Why has Rajya Sabha MP Sujana Chowdary suddenly become active these days? He has of late announced a toll-free number for the people of Andhra Pradesh so that they can air their grievances. Similarly, he has also created a customised e-mail to enable people have an interface with him. Similarly, an initiative titled "Save Andhra Pradesh" has also been created.
In fact, Sujana was quite inactive till recently and did not participate in public meetings. He was busy with his businesses and kept a low profile. However, Union Home Minster Amit Shah has recently convened a meeting of the Rajya Sabha MPs from Andhra Pradesh. He is reported to have told the MPs to focus on the state and work to popularise the BJP ideology.
He has also told the Rajya Sabha MPs that they would have to come back into the house only through direct elections. This means they should identify their constituency and work among the voters with gusto. Sujana has become active due to this diktat. His team is now going round the constituency to popularise the toll free number and the email.
The MPs, who joined the BJP from the TDP are now busy with their outreach programmes. Sources said that they had kept a low profile as there was some opposition from a section of the party. This section has targeted the likes of Sujana claiming that they were using the TDP as a parking lot or a waiting hall nd that their loyalties lay elsewhere.
