Why Is Owaisi Upset With This Muslim Leader?
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 July 2020 11:17 AM ISTNormally, MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi maintains a firm grip over the Old City and on all matters Muslim. But, these days, his grip on the Muslim community seems to be loosening up a bit. He is facing problems from within.
Former Majlis-e-Mushawarat chief and rabble rouser Mushtaq Malik is already a strong dissenting voice. Now, Wakf Board chief Mohammad Salim has also joined the bandwagon. Mohammad Salim has differed with Owaisi on the issue of the demolition of the mosque inside the old secretariat complex. When the mosque was demolished, he tried to bail out KCR by thanking him for the promise of rebuilding a bigger and better mosque. However, Wakf Board chief Saleem did not share Owaisi's enthusiasm. He has strongly opposed the demolition and wanted the government to allow a delegation of Muslims to inspect the site.
The latest in this drama is that Owaisi has now written to the State Government seeking replacement of the Wakf Board chief. He has also suggested four names for the purpose and one of them is former top cop AK Khan.
