Why Kerala Story Film Found Itself In Political Controversy?
By: Tupaki Desk | 1 May 2023 6:01 PM ISTA recently released trailer grabbed everyone's attention and also created a political controversy. The political parties are slamming the trailer and are saying that there is a big conspiracy to spread propaganda and they are also demanding that the film should be stopped. Even the Chief Minister slammed the trailer and we can understand the situation with this.
The trailer of the Kerala Story film was released recently. Besides good reception from common people, the trailer is also facing strong criticism from the political parties and leaders. They are dubbing the film as a propaganda one. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed dissatisfaction with the trailer and said that it just promotes Sangh Parivar propaganda. The CPI(M) & Congress parties are strongly opposing the film.
Going by the trailer, the Kerala Story revolved around women who were reportedly converted to Islam and forced to join ISIS. Around 32,000 girls were converted to Islam and the film shows how they are converted and how they are forced to be part of the extremism, as per the filmmakers.
The film highlights the alleged issue of Love Jihad where women are forced to join Islam. The ruling party in Kerala slammed the makers and said that it spread propaganda. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that even the Courts and agencies rejected the concept but the film spread lies on this.
Though the Kerala government and others are saying that Love Jihad is not true and is a conspiracy, there are a few incidents to say that the possibility cannot be ruled out. A couple of years back, a woman requested the Union government to bring her daughter to India from Afghanistan. The woman's daughter who is from Kerala was among the four women who were placed in Kabul Jail for allegedly trying to join Islamic State (IS) militant group. The Indian government did not show any interest in allowing the four to come back.
The Right-wing strongly says that Love Jihad is an existing concept while the left says there is no truth in this and it is just a conspiracy to spread fake narratives.
The Kerala Story is an upcoming film directed by Sudipto Sen, and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The film stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani in key roles. The upcoming film is slated for release on 5 May 2023. Earlier The Kashmir Files also created a big sensation and landed in political controversy. The film is based on Kashmir Pandits' exodus.
