The predictions came true with North Korea president Kim Jong-un. Kim visited China on a secret trip. He met Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to Beijing. Kim's China visit assumed significance before meeting with South Korea, America presidents. Xinhua News agency has confirmed Korean president's China visit and revealed that Kim has toured unofficially in China from Sunday to Wednesday. This is the first foreign visit of Kim after coming to power in 2011. The two countries have confirmed the visit later.
China has been a strong supporter of North Korea for a long time. But North Korea's nuclear initiatives weakened the bilateral relationship in the recent past. It is known that China has backed UN's sanctions on North Korea recently. Xinhua news agency reported that Kim reportedly told Xi Jinping that the situation improving in the Korean peninsula with the initiative taken by North Korea for the peace talks. Kim also promised that North Korea is committed to denuclearisation in the region. He said that he is ready to discuss with America as well.
The Chinese president said that China, North Korea shared friendship for a long time and he wished that the two countries should continue their friendship in the future as well. Both the leaders posed for the camera shaking hands with each other on the occasion. When Kim invited Xi Jinping to visit North Korea, he responded positively.
Surprisingly, China didn't respond to Kim Jong-un's visit officially. China's Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Hua Chunying said on Tuesday that they don't have Kim's visit. But they have changed their word sand confirmed Kim's visit later.
