Why Medak is both happy and unhappy with Team Revanth Reddy?
By: Tupaki Desk | 8 July 2021 11:48 AM GMTThe Congress cadre in Medak district is happy with the newly constituted Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee. Because of the significant representation it has got in the new team. There is lot of enthusiasm in the party units in the undivided Medak district. A large number of workers were part of PCC chief Revanth Reddy's cavalcade en route to Gandhi Bhavan on July 7 when he formally took over as the PCC chief.
Significantly, Medak is the district to which chief minister KCR belongs. KCR has represented Siddipet for several times and now represents neighbouring Gajwel for the past two times. Another key leader of the TRS and KCR's nephew T Harish Rao too comes from the undivided Medak district. He is currently representing Siddipet constituency. Hence the Congress Party has given lot of importance to the district.
In the new rejig, the Congress has given four key posts to the leaders from the undivided Medak district. While Sangareddy MLA Turpu Jagga Reddy and former minister J Geetha Reddy have been made working presidents, former MP Suresh Shetkar has been made the vice-president of the party. Similarly, former deputy minister and Dalit leader Damodar Rajanarsimha was made the chief of the campaign committee.
There is a lot of enthusiasm among the cadre and if Congress sources are to be believed, several Congress leaders, who had left and joined the TRS for various reasons have also indicated their willingness to come back to the parent party. Several former people's representatives, former ZPTCS, MPTCs and MPPs have reportedly met the DCC chief and expressed their wish to join the Congress. Sources say that several disgruntled TRS leaders to have sent feelers to the Congress leaders. Some BJP leaders, who are unhappy with their party too have approached the Congress leaders.
However, there is one hitch. There is some disappointment within the Congress over the neglect of Medak, Zaheerabad, Toopran, Ramayampet and other regions. Most of those who got the party positions are either from Siddipet or from Sangareddy regions. The other regions have been ignored. However, insiders say that these aberrations would soon be corrected.
