Prime Minister Narendra Modi has still not given an appointment to one of the world's most powerful persons. Amazon CEO Geff Bezos is still waiting for an appointment to meet Narendra Modi.
Modi is said to be upset with the writings in Washington Post, a famed daily owned by Amazon, which portrayed the BJP as a villain. The writings said that the minorities in India were afraid and that they were anxiously waiting for the outcome of the 2019 elections. In another story, the Washington Post said that there was no freedom for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP and Narendra Modi strongly feel that these were wrong portrayals of India and through such stories, the Washington Post has maligned India. The truth is different and what the Washington Post has portrayed is different. So, the BJP is upset with Bezos. Also, the Amazon has badly hit the business of the small and mid-level retail traders. They want their concerns to be allayed first.
To please Modi, Bezos is seen visiting places like Bapughat and wearing dresses like Modi. He is also participating in the kite-flying festivals in Ahmedabad and other places. But, Modi being Modi, he is not swayed by these overtures. Bezos may have to go back empty handed this time.
