Why TRS wants to revive RTC union?
X
After practically finishing off the trade unions in the Telangana Pradesh Road Transports Corporation, the TRS is now forced to revive it again. The party is now trying to edge out former general secretary Aswatthamma Reddy and build up a new union. There are two reasons for this, according to sources.

The sources say that the TRS boss now wants to revive the RTC union because he feels that the space could be occupied by rival unions. Not just that, the TRS also needs someone to support the decisions taken on the RTC. So, they have decided to revive it. Thomas Reddy, who was a prominent leader during the agitation, is now being encouraged to reactivate the union. Accordingly, he had recently held a meeting of the union activists.

Second important reason why KCR wants this union to be brought back into life is to rehabilitate his daughter Kavitha Kalwakuntla. Though Kavitha has been made an MLC, there is no specific role for her. Also, KCR wants to divide responsibilities among the family members. He is planning to make his son KTR the CM, while he wants daughter Kavitha to take care of all the trade union activities in Telangana. He has already made her the incharge for the Singareni Collieries union. Similarly, he is now trying to project her as the honorary president of TSRTC union. This union, which has over 50000 employees, is among the largest of the unions.
