Why Urdu Papers Gave More Coverage To Swami Agnivesh Death?
By: Tupaki Desk | 14 Sep 2020 3:06 AM GMTThere is one strange thing about Arya Samajist leader Swami Agnivesh even in death. A man with Telugu roots, Swami Agnivesh's saffron robes and strident opposition to RSS have made him newsy while he was alive. But, when he passed away recently, most newspapers failed to give him the coverage he actually merits.
Interestingly, most national newspapers in English and Telugu confined the news to inside pages. Even in the inside pages, the news was small and in some cases, very insignificant. But, interestingly Urdu papers across the country covered his news in the front page. Another interesting feature is that most Urdu newspapers carried editorials on his death.
This is quite an interesting achievement for a saffron robed sanyasi. Agnivesh is known to be an inveterate opponent of the RSS and the BJP and did not mind sharing the stage with even communal elements among the minorities. His love for anti-BJP forces must be the reason why the Urdu papers gave him that kind of a coverage.
