Why Zomato Is Bidding Adieu To 13 % Of Its Employees?
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 May 2020 11:45 AM ISTIn what could be seen as a grim reminder of the job losses that could hit us in the days to come due to the Covid-induced shattering of the economy, online food delivery platform Zomato has indicated that it would have to remove at least 13 per cent of its workforce.
The Zomato on Saturday said that it may not have enough work for all its 4000-strong employee force and indicated that at least 13 per cent of its employees have already been told to look for jobs elsewhere. Already, Zomato has effected salary cuts ranging from 10 per cent to 50 per cent depending on the salary bracket. With the restaurant business set to shrink up to 40 per cent for the coming six to eight months, Zomato is staring at a bleak future.
However, all those who have been asked to look for jobs elsewhere, would be paid 50 per cent salary for the coming six months, during which period they would have to look for other jobs. Zomato and Swiggy are badly hit due to the lockdown, which has severely affected the food and restaurant sector.
