Will AP get a Kapu CM in 2024?

Will 2024 elections in AP ring in a new era of social change along with political change? Will a caste beyond the Kamma and Reddy pale take over reins of power? Will Kapus, a numerically dominant community, rise this time and capture political power? Political pundits are furiously debating this.
Political pundits are still dissecting Pawan Kalyan's speech on the foundation day celebrations of the party at Ippatam. Pawan's speech indirectly talked about Kapus being the dominant social group. He also said that this dominant group will no longer be playing second fiddle in Telugu politics.
Interestingly, Kapus have never been under-represented in the government. But, they were always playing second fiddle despite being tantalisingly close to political power. The sum and substance of Pawan's speech was that the Kapus should claim their rightful position.
Another Kapu leader, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, too has said that the next CM of AP would be from the Kapu community. Speaking at the unveiling of the Vangaveeti Ranga statue in Payakaraopet of Vizag district, he said that Kapus will now assume power. Sources say that this Kapu meet had its impact on Pawan Kalyan's utterances at Ippatam.
Kapus constitute 25 per cent of the total vote share and they are a key influence on as many as 90 seats in AP. Yet, they have been divided between the Congress and the TDP. Though Praja Rajyam and the Jana Sena did try to bring the Kapus under one roof, they have not succeeded. Will the Kapus come together this time and script a new history? Let's wait and see.
