Will 'Namaste Telangana' CL Rajam be made a Rajya Sabha MP?
By: Tupaki Desk | 30 March 2022 4:34 AM GMTHere's something that is buzzing quite animatedly in the TRS circles. KCR's anger against realtor Jupalli Rameswara Rao post the Muchintal fiasco could prove to be a windfall for another entrepreneur. Highly placed sources say that CL Rajam, who has a blow-hot-blow-cold relationship with KCR would be made a Rajya Sabha MP on TRS ticket.
Rajam, an infra biggie, ran two newspapers - Namaste Telangana and Metro News - for the TRS. He was in fact the MD of Namaste Telangana, which played a key role in amplifying the TRS voice during the fight for Telangana statehood. But, later, he was ousted and was not given any contracts in Telangana. Then, he befriended the BJP, joined the party in the presence of Rajnath Singh and then launched another short-lived daily called "Vijayakranthi."
Now that KCR is estranged with Jupally, he is said to be looking towards CL Rajam, who was once close to the TRS establishment. Now that Rajya Sabha MP Capt. Lakshmikanth Rao's tenure is coming to an end, he wants to replace him with another Brahmin. CL Rajam perfectly fits the bill, say sources.
CL Rajam also has deep connections with BJP leaders like Rajnath Singh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, former Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh, unlike Jupally and could be useful to bring some kind of reproachment with the BJP if and when needed. Sources say that Rajam could be made a Rajya Sabha member soon.
