Will Nirmala Sitharaman Be Replaced?

Is Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on her way out? Will she be replaced by the end of this year? The Lutyen's Delhi is agog with rumours that Nirmala Sitharaman would be replaced by someone more efficient as she has failed to make her mark during the economic downturn and the Covid period.
Sources say that there would be a cabinet reshuffle soon after the Bihar assembly elections. This is indicated by PM Modi's decision to ask Commerce Minister Piyush Goel to take additional charge of the portfolios handled by Ram Vilas Paswan. This only means that a permanent minister would be appointed for the post soon after the elections.
Similarly, members from JDU and LJP will have to be appointed to the Cabinet. The reports suggest that in view of the falling approval ratings of the Finance Minister, especially among the industrialists, the middle class and the financial experts, she might soon be replaced. Sources say either Jyotiraditya Scindia or Suresh Prabhu could succeed her.
Sources say the cabinet reshuffle could also see several ministers like Narendra Tomar, Piyush Goel, Smriti Irani, Ravishankar Prasad, Harsh Vardhan, Prakash Jawadekar, Prahlad Joshi and some others are holding more than one portfolios. So, Modi might reduce the burden on these ministers and appoint young MPs as junior ministers.
