Will Panabaka Lakshmi Join BJP?

Remember Panabaka Lakshmi? She represented Nellore in Lok Sabha and was a union minister of state for some time. She resigned from the Congress in the wake of the bifurcation of the Telugu speaking state and lay dormant for quite some time. In 2019, she contested for the Lok Sabha seat on a TDP ticket and lost the election. Her husband too had contested for the assembly and lost badly.
Now the latest is that Panabaka Lakshmi is all set to join the BJP. She is said to be seriously discussing the issue with her supporters and well-wishers and is said to be actively considering joining the BJP. She is said to be planning to contest in the by-election to the Tirupati Lok Sabha constituency. The bypoll is necessitated by the sudden demise of sitting MP Balli Durga Prasad.
This is an SC reserved seat and the BJP does not have a suitable Dalit candidate. So, the BJP is looking for a suitable candidate, who stands some winning chances. Meanwhile, Panabaka too is looking for a suitable party to revive her political career. She and her supporters feel that contesting from the BJP could prove beneficial as they believe that the people are fed up with both the BJP and the YSRCP. If Panabaka Lakshmi leaves the TDP, the TDP might put up Varla Ramaiah for the seat.
