Will Rayudu play on Guntur pitch?

Move over Guntur politicians. You have a competition. A swashbuckling and hard-hitting cricketer is all set to play an altogether new innings. Ambati Rayudu, who regaled us with his lusty shots and those beefy runs, is now getting ready for a political innings. And indications are that he would join the YSRCP and contest from Guntur district.
Rayudu, who hails from Guntur, has always kept in touch with the district despite his busy cricketing career. In an interview to a TV channel, he has clearly said that he would like to focus on his home district. At the same time, he threw enough hints that he is not averse to politics. What more? He has shown clear preference for the ruling YSRCP.
Rayudu told the TV channel that he wants to bring the Chennai Super Kings, his cricketing franchise, and the YSRCP and promote sports in the district. He said that he has already met chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on this issue. If all goes well, then Ambati Rayudu could very well become the party candidate from Ponnur assembly constituency.
There were initially some reports that Ambati Rayudu might join the ruling TRS in Telangana and become its candidate from Malkajgiri. Rayudu owns some agricultural land in Siddipet assembly constituency and has praised the Kaleswaram project earlier. But, now it is becoming increasingly clear that his preference lies in Andhra Pradesh.
