Will Shilpas switch over to TDP again?
By: Tupaki Desk | 5 April 2023 3:45 PM ISTThe political arena is abuzz with the rumours that Nandyala's powerful political family - the Shilpa family - is all set to ditch the YSRCP. There is a strong talk that they would switch over to the TDP. This means that the two strong political rivals of Nandyal region - the Bhumas and the Shilpas - would be in the same party.
Sources say that the survey reports have given negative feedback about Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy, who now represents Srisailam. Hence, the YSRCP might not give him the party ticket in the 2024 elections. Also, there is a buzz that TTD deputy EO Dharma Reddy would be given the YSRCP ticket. At the same time, the name of young leader Byreddy Siddharth Reddy too is doing rounds.
Realising that they might not get the ticket, both Shilpa chakrapani Reddy and Mohan Reddy have reportedly contacted the TDP leaders. If sources are to be believed, the Shilpas have demanded two seats - Nandyal and Srisailam for the family. However, Chandrababu has reportedly agreed to give one seat to the family.
Shilpas and Bhumas have a long history of changing parties. Shilpas were with the TDP in 2014, but later fell out with Chandrababu Naidu and joined the YSRCP. They lost the bypolls to Nandyal assembly constituency in 2018. However, they won a resounding victory in the 2019 elections. Since then, they have been looking towards the TDP. Now it is almost certain that they would shift to the TDP.
