Will Tammineni Sitaram's dreams be fulfilled this time?
By: Tupaki Desk | 29 Aug 2021 12:14 PM GMTAP Speaker Tammineni Sitaram is desperately trying to become a minister. He is said to be moving heaven and earth to enter into YS Jagan's council of ministers. Highly placed sources say that he had already met YS Jagan and reportedly expressed his desire to serve as a minister.
In fact, Tammineni was a hot favourite for a ministerial berth soon after YS Jagan's stunning victory in 2019. However, belying all expectations, he was made the speaker. Tammineni never really had any interest in the speaker's post. But, there was no way he could refuse the offer. But now that there is a strong buzz about cabinet reshuffle being undertaken soon, Tammineni is said to be trying his luck once again.
Sources say that Tammineni has expressed his desire to have one more go at the ministerial position. He is said to have expressed his desire to party's general secretary and incharge of the North Andhra party affairs Vijaysai Reddy.
However, there are two major challenges before Tammineni Sitaram. Another senior hand Dharmana Prasada Rao, who was a minister for two terms under late YS Rajasekhara Reddy is making a strong bid to enter into the council of ministers. The second challenge is that one of the two sitting ministers – Dharmana Krishna Das and S Appala Raju – may have to step down to make way for Tammineni. With both the ministers considered quite close to YS Jagan, it is unlikely that any one of them will step down.
Tammineni was a minister under both NTR and Chandrababu Naidu. After the 2004 defeat, Tammineni could not enter the AP Assembly till 2019. He has won in 2019 and wanted to become a minister. But, in the unexpected turn of events, Jagan made him the speaker of the AP Assembly.
