Will Telangana Have A Woman Chief Minister?
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 Nov 2018 4:43 PM GMTNow that Sonia Gandhi's public meeting at Medchal is a huge success, there's a race in the Congress to be the next Chief Minister of Telangana. While several names are being floated, there is an interesting question doing rounds among the Congressmen. Who will the next CM be - a he or she?
Unlike the TRS, where there is no doubt as to who would be the next CM, the Congress has a surfeit of claimants. At least a four or five are being touted as possible CMs. But, post Sonia Gandhi's public meeting, the talk of a woman CM is gaining ground. There is a reason behind this. Recently, AICC women's wing chief Susmitha Dev visited the state. During her presser, she said the Congress would form the next government and added that Telangana would have a woman chief minister. This is being seen as a big boost for woman leaders like DK Aruna, Sabitha Indrareddy, Geetha Reddy, Vijayasanthi and Uttam Kumar Reddy's wife Padmavathi.
The male leaders, who have been working hard for the last several years, however, are said to be distraught at this. But, they feel anything can happen in the Congress and there could be some last minute change. So, more than winning, the Congressmen are now more worried about who will become the CM.
