Will this key Congress leader join BJP?
By: Tupaki Desk | 7 Jan 2023 5:41 AM GMTThere is utter confusion within the Telangana Congress over which way senior leader and TPCC programme implementation committee chairperson Yeleti Maheshwar Reddy. There is a strong buzz that he might soon leave the party and join the BJP. Recent actions of Reddy too add grist to the rumour mill.
Yeleti has all along opposed the leadership of TPCC chief Revanth Reddy. Ever since Revanth Reddy took over, he raised a banner of revolt and has claimed that Revanth Reddy's leadership would not take the party anywhere. He has also been skipping key programmes despite orders from national president Mallikarjun Kharge.
Recently the party organised a major training camp for the party leaders at Hyderabad. Several key leaders attended the meeting. Those who could not, either obtained prior permission or informed the high command of their inability to attend. However, Yeleti was the only leader who did not bother to secure permission. He skipped the meeting without any notice.
There are rumours that he is all set to resign from the party soon. Sources say that Yeleti is already in touch with the BJP leadership and is planning to join the party before elections. He is said to have planned to undertake a yatra in his assembly constituency from January 18. Yeleti is a strong leader with considerable influence in the undivided Adilabad district.
