The TRS top leadership is increasingly feeling that Vemulawada MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh might prove a liability in the 2023 assembly elections. Ramesh, who comes from a powerful political family, is unavailable to his voters for the last two years. He has been speaking to the party leaders, government officials and others only through video conferences.
His continued absence has become a political stick for the Opposition to beat the ruling party. In the election campaign, his absence is sure to come up. Ramesh has been living in Germany for the past two years. In addition, there are a slew of court cases over the issue of his citizenship. The Union Home Ministry has already claimed that he was holding a German passport and that he is a German citizen. Hence the TRS feels that he needs to be replaced this time.
