Will this media baron fall for KCR's Rajya Sabha bait?
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 April 2022 6:37 AM GMTThose watching the V 6 and reading the Velugu daily may have noticed that the attack on KCR of late has been muted. The support to the BJP has been lukewarm. Political watchers say that the coverage and criticism in these media outlets is the barometer for the political though process of its owner and former MP Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy.
If the content is an indication, he may well be moving closer to the TRS establishment. Of late, the criticism of the TRS has been greatly reduced. The language used is softer and milder. At the same time, there is no glowing reference to the BJP. The Velugu and V6, which vociferously backed Eatala Rajender during the Huzurabad bypolls, is a lot softer now.
Sources say that KCR wants to upstage BJP by offering a Rajya Sabha seat to Vivek Venkatswamy. There are three Rajya Sabha vacancies in Telangana and the TRS is sure to win all the three. So, KCR reportedly offered a seat to Vivek. Vivek has always wanted to be in Delhi and has deep connections in the national capital. It was because he was denied an MP ticket that he had left the TRS and joined the BJP.
But, will Vivek accept it? As of now, Vivek is undecided, according to those close to him. They are of the opinion that long term politics dictate that he should not fall for KCR's stratagem. But, given his yearning to be in Delhi, he could very well accept the offer. It is because of this dilemma that the coverage in the two media houses owned by him has become neutral these days.
