With less than 1 per cent vote, why BJP is strongest in AP
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 Jun 2022 4:43 AM GMTThe BJP may have just about one percent votes and may have no MLA, MP or even an MLC in Andhra Pradesh. But It is going to sweep the state this time in the presidential elections. The BJP is all set to bag all the 25 MP votes and all the 175 MLA votes in the upcoming presidential elections.
Yes. All the 22 MPs and every MLA of the YSRCP are set to vote for the NDA nominee in the president's election. Interestingly, the TDP which does not see eye to eye with the TDP on any issue is ready to vote for the same BJP. Thus, its 23 MLAs and three MPs are going to side with the BJP. This point was brought out so eloquently by former MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar.
Nowhere else does one see the strange spectacle of both the ruling and the opposition parties supporting the same candidate. Interestingly, the candidate does not belong to both the parties. In fact, this is the scene in Andhra Pradesh for the last eight years. In 2017, the TDP was in power and it backed BJP candidate Ramnath Kovind. The YSRCP too supported the same candidate. The same thing is going to happen this time too.
For the last three years, neither Chandrababu Naidu nor YS Jagan Mohan Reddy have criticised the BJP on any issue. In fact, they have not said a thing about the delay of the Polavaram project. They did not criticise the Centre on the issue of State Capital also. Interestingly, even Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena is so favourably inclined towards the BJP.
