The question or debate on whether Hindi is the national language of India or not is a big issue now and the heat around the issue is not settling down. People from the political and entertainment arenas are stepping in to give their take on this. While a few from the north are dubbing Hindi as the national language, people from down south are hitting back.

It is known that recently, Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan had reacted to comments made by Kannada Superstar Kiccha Sudeepon Hindi and said that no matter what, Hindi will be the national language. His comments gave birth to a political storm and many people are reacting to this.

Barging into the ongoing debate, a Cabinet Minister made some controversial comments and added fuel to the issue. Making his point here that Hindi will be the national language of India, the Minister said that, those who don't have a love for Hindi should be seen as foreigners. The Minister even said that those who don't want to speak Hindi can leave the country.

A senior leader from Uttar Pradesh Sanjay Nishad made these comments. The Cabinet Minister who is holding the fisheries portfolio said that people who are not ready to speak Hindi can move out of the nation.

The Minister said that if one has to live in India, they should speak in Hindi and those who are not ready for the same should be seen as foreigners or ones who have ties with foreigners. He even quoted the Indian constitution to back his stand on the Hindi language.

According to the Minister, the Indian Constitution addresses India as Hindustan and in his understanding, Hindustan refers to a nation that has Hindi speakers. The Minister's comments have taken the language debate forward and the opposition parties are breathing fire against him over his comments.

Saying that he has respect for the regional languages, the Minister said, the law endorses Hindi as the national language, and those who violate this should be arrested and sent to jail. No matter how big the person is, he or she should be arrested, if they violate that, the Minister maintained.
