World Cup 2019: Unlucky New Zealand, Lucky England!
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 July 2019 5:50 AM GMT2019 World Cup Final is a cracker of a match. Everyone who watched it had the feeling that is how a final should be like. In the end, One Team was lucky enough to lift the trophy and the other Team was unlucky to lose it.
New Zealand set a target of 242 for England by batting first after Kane Williamson won the toss. England were 8 down by the end of 49 Over and Ben Stokes was the last hope. 15 Runs had to be scored in the final over for England to win the World Cup.
First Two Balls bowled by Boult were dots. Ben Stokes hit the 3rd ball for a Six. There was a bit of drama after the 4th ball was bowled. Stokes hit the ball to deep mid-wicket and came back for two. The throw of Martin Guptill at the Keeper's End costed New Zealand dearly. Ball struck the bat of Ben Stokes when he attempted a dive to avoid run out and got deflected enough to fetch 4 bonus runs for England (2 + 4). That's how the target for England got down to 3 runs in the last two balls. Had if England want 7 runs in two balls, It would have been advantage for New Zealand. In the end, The match ended in a tie and England had the last laugh after the Super Over.
New Zealand is unlucky not to have won World Cup despite being in the final in 2015 (Australia) and 2019 (England).
