Yakub Memon, the convict in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case was hanged till death at the Nagpur Central Jail on last Thursday.

He was sent to the gallows on his 54th birthday after several of his court appeals and clemency petitions were rejected by all authorities.

Now the hangman who did the job got a gift cheque. As per reports Student union of Ambika Padavi Poorva College in Puttur of Karnataka sent him a cheque of 10,000 rupees as a token of appreciation for performing the execution of the terrorist.

The student union felt like honoring the man who executed the death penalty to Memon. . They even consulted judge before offering the gift and wrote a letter to jail officer saying its a token of gift for the man who hanged Memon

Yakub, the brother of prime accused Tiger Memon, and 11 others were sentenced to death by a special TADA court in July 2007.Meanwhile some reports suggest that Yakub brother and the prime suspect in the case, Tiger Memon had allegedly called the Memon family residence hours before the hanging and spoke of taking revenge.
