Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), the electoral reform body in its new report had said that as many as 363 Parliamentarians and Members of Assembly are facing criminal charges.

The charges faced by the various party leaders are so serious that they can be declared disqualified if the charges they face gets proved.

The list of legislators representing various houses across the states who face serious charges was issued after examining the declarations made by the leaders.

As per the findings of the non-profit organisation, 363 legislators including MPs and MLAs face severe charges. This includes both Central and State level political parties.

The BJP tops the list of legislators who face criminal charges with 83, while the opposition Congress and the ruling TMC in West Bengal are at the second and third positions with 47 and 25 respectively.

The provisions of the Sub-sections (1), (2) and (3) of Section 8 of the Representation of People Act on disqualification clearly mentions that the Legislators framed with charges that fall under the above sun sections will be declared disqualified from their respective positions. The disqualification would continue for a period of six years.

The ruling YSRCP has the highest contribution from Andhra Pradesh in the ADR list with four MPs and 18 MLAs facing such serious charges.

YSRCP Lok Sabha Floor leader Mithun Reddy, MPs Bharat Reddy, Bellana Chandrasekhar, MVB Satyanarayana are facing charges that might result in their disqualification.
