A Clerk Become Chief Minister Twice

BS Yeddyurappa was instrumental in establishing the first BJP Government down South. He now holds the record of a BJP Leader becoming CM twice in South India.
Not many knew that BS Yeddyurappa, A Bachelor of Arts, had worked as a clerk in the Social Welfare Department and also at a Rice Mill in his native place Shikaripura. Later, He became a Hardware Store Owner.
Yeddyurappa is an RSS Member and became the chief of Jana Sangh's Shikaripura taluka in the 70s. He was jailed during Indira Gandhi's Emergency.
Since 1983, Yeddyurappa got elected to Assembly six times from Shikaripura. He have the backing of dominant Lingayat Community.
Following the tiff with JD (S), Yeddyurappa led BJP to victory in 2008 Assembly Polls. He, however, was forced to resign on July 31st, 2011 due to corruption charges. Yeddyurappa quit BJP and floated Karnataka Janata Paksha in 2013. In the 2013 Assembly Elections, His party managed to get only 6 seats and 10 percent vote share. Following the flop show, He merged his party with BJP on January 9th, 2014. BJP managed to win 19 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats in 2014 after the merger. Yeddyurappa was acquitted from illegal mining case on October 26th, 2016. Today, He took the oath as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka.
